Polycrystalline samples of the SrRu1-xFexO3 system with x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0, were synthesized by solid state reaction of stoichiometric quantities of oxides of RuO2, Fe2O3 and SrCO3. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and ac magnetization vs. temperature measurements. XRD results shown that the lattice parameter decreases with the iron content; as a consequence the unit cell volume decreases. The Sr 3d, Ru 3d Fe 3d and O 1s spectral lines associated to the chemical states of Sr(Ru1-xFex)O3 were identified by XPS. Curves of ac magnetization vs. temperature shown for x ≥ 0.25 a behavior spin glass.
