The 37th Annual Symposium of the Society was held in Toronto, the first time outside the United States. The intrepid Local Arrangements Chair was Frank Shepherd (right), seen with Bill Westwood, the long-time Secretary of the AVS.

The task of the Local Arrangements Committee is one of the more onerous tasks that can be foisted on any AVS member. But it is one of the more important: consider that each regular speaker at the many sessions has just 20 minutes total to present and discuss his work. There is little time to spare, and the LAC must assure that all goes smoothly. THANKS FRANK!!
