The real beginning of the National AVS short course program dates to 1970, when a committee of the Education Committee was set up with Vivienne Harwood as the coordinator. She continued in that capacity, with great success, until 1983, when the short course program was moved from the purview of the Education Committee to report directly to the Board of Directors. In the photograph Vivienne Harwood Mattox is talking to Jim Murday in 1995.
