Wednesday, November 15: Copia- Napa Valley
(9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m., hotel by 4:30 p.m.)

Bay Model—(10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m.)   The San Francisco Bay Model located on the Sausalito waterfront is an exhibit  “From the Mountains to the Sea,” titled “Welcome to California’s Largest Watershed—a flowing world of change, challenge and choice”  which highlights San Francisco’s watershed from the Cascade/Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Golden Gate and  the Pacific Ocean. Included in this fascinating exhibit is an interactive 3-D topographical map with fiber optic lighting that graphically demonstrates the origin of California’s water system. There are also interactive exhibits on the plants, animals and fish in the watershed.

Sausalito— (12:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) You can bypass the Bay Model and spend all of your time in Sausalito or you can do both.  You will be on your own once you get off of the bus. Sausalito is an alluring village of art galleries, quaint shops and waterfront restaurants with views of San Francisco across the Bay. We will take the 3:20 p.m. ferry back to San Francisco. In just 20 minutes we will arrive at the Ferry Building. In 2004, the Ferry Building was remodeled and reopened as an upscale gourmet marketplace, office building and ferry terminal. Architecturally, the clock tower was modeled after the 12th century Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain.  It’s worth spending a little time here. The Ferry Building is just one mile from our hotel.

Cost: $40.00  by  10/1:   Cost  $55.00  after  10/1

(Doesn’t include lunch, transportation back to hotel from the Ferry Building).

Thursday, November 16:
Muir Woods, Sausalito (Bay Model)

(8:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m., hotel by 4:00p.m.)

Muir Woods—(9:00 a.m.-10:15 a.m.)  Marin County, one of the most affluent counties in the U.S. and home of the Muir Woods, is the location of the few remaining groves of virgin coastal redwoods. These redwoods are among the tallest and oldest trees in existence. The main trail loop, from Muir Woods Visitor Center, is a ½ hour, easy one mile stroll that leads you to the heart of a cathedral-like grove of redwoods. Today, Muir Woods stands as a reminder of the way much of the surrounding Marin County land once appeared.
