Welcome to San Francisco,
arguably the most beautiful, certainly the most liberal, city in the
United States.
San Francisco is a city of 48 hilly square miles and many distinct
neighborhoods. The Financial District, representing the new money
in San Francisco, mainly glass and steel skyscrapers, Chinatown,
24 square blocks, making it the second largest Chinese community outside
of Asia, The Mission District, San Francisco’s funkiest
neighborhood – vibrant, hip and ethnically mixed taking its name from
the old Mission Dolores, The Castro District, the city’s gay
capitol, The North Beach District, that likes to think of itself
as the ‘happening’ district, Union Square, the city’s heart, Golden
Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge, are just a few of the neighborhoods
that make San Francisco unique as well as its Cable Cars. As a general
rule, geographic elevation means wealth – the higher up you are, the
less fog you endure, resulting in better views. Hopefully, we’ll have
clear weather and warm temperatures during the AVS Conference. I hope
that you enjoy the Companion’s Program. This year be ready for some
gastronomical delights!!!
What is the Companion Program?The Companion Program offers an opportunity to renew
friendships and make new friends while enjoying tours and special events
in the host city.

Companion Fee
Rather than having a registration fee, we are asking the Companion
Program participants and guests to purchase their breakfast at the
Garden Terrace Restaurant or City Blends Café.

Staffing the Companion
Program
We need and welcome volunteers. You will be first to meet and greet our
Companions. This is a fun way to become involved. Onsite training will
be on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the Atrium on the 2nd floor of the Marriott
Hotel.
