Honorary Members

This honor is awarded to an individual who has performed eminent service to the American Vacuum Society or who has made outstanding contributions in science, engineering, or allied fields of interest to the American Vacuum Society. The number of living Honorary Members is limited to 0.5% of the total membership; however, if this limit is in effect, up to two new Honorary Members may still be presented in a given year.  Until 1961, the term used was Life Member.
