Dorothy Hoffman was a wonderfully friendly lady with a will of iron. She was elected the Secretary of AVS in 1969, in, as she would put it, a two-man race (she derided the term “chair person” with the comment that she was not a piece of furniture!). After serving as Secretary for two years she was nominated and confirmed as President-Elect, once again in a two-man race! She served as President in 1974.
