Meeting History
The STM conference was first held in Santiago de Compostela (1986), and subsequently in Oxnard (1987), Oxford (1988), Oarai (1989), Baltimore (1990), Interlaken (1991), Beijing (1993), Snow Mass (1995), Hamburg (1997), Seoul (1999), Vancouver (2001), Eindhoven (2003), and Sapporo (2005).

The international Nano conferences grew out of these international STM meetings. The first Nano meeting was held jointly with STM in Baltimore (1990), and subsequently in Moscow (1993), Denver (1994), Beijing (1996), Birmingham (1998), Boston (2000), Malmö (2002), and Venice (2004).

Nano9 and STM06 were formally combined as the ICN+T in Basel, Switzerland in 2006, with the ICN+T held again last summer in Stockholm, Sweden (ICN+T 2007).
